We are honored to share that the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce has been named the 2026 Pennsylvania Association of Chamber Professionals (PACP) Chamber of the Year in the Large Chamber category for exceptional leadership in transforming a long-neglected property into a major regional economic development and tourism asset.
Our Chamber was recognized by PACP for leading the development of the Williamsport Lumber Yards, a $24 million regional baseball and softball complex that opened this past April. The project transformed a former brownfield property, once used as the city dump, into a state-of-the-art athletic facility featuring 6 softball and youth baseball fields and 1 college baseball field built to attract regional tournaments and visitors. The Chamber played the central role in bringing the project to fruition through securing a combination of state and local grants, community contributions, and financing to complete the development.
The Williamsport Lumber Yards will contribute a significant amount of tourism to the Williamsport/Lycoming County area, supporting our local businesses, contributing revenue to the area for many years to come. This attraction will deliver year round support to our local businesses, hotels, and provide long term economic growth within the region. The Williamsport Lumber Yards already has hosted over 300 teams with more than 70 thousand players, their families, coaches and fans since the April opening.
The Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber continues to serve as a driving force for business advocacy, tourism promotion, leadership development, and economic growth throughout Lycoming County. Representing over 950 members, we provide a wide range of impactful programs and services. The Chamber embodies the vision and leadership our business members have in their commitment to strengthening the region’s long-term economic vitality and quality of life we all greatly value.
Our purpose is to grow and support our businesses by working to maintain a healthy and viable business climate for them to operate. This is achieved by driving economic growth through assisting existing business expansion, connecting members with other area businesses for local business-to-business opportunities and attracting new companies to support the region by enhancing Lycoming County’s tax base and adding new jobs.
We thank PACP and their team of professionals for recognizing our organization as the Large Chamber of the Year, and look forward to continuing to be the only chamber driving the growth in Lycoming County.
