Your Partners In Education

Lycoming County is dedicated to giving every child access to quality education and the tools needed to one day enter and compete in the workforce.  As your local Chamber we advocate on behalf of the business community to improve the education pipeline in the region.  As the need for talented, highly-skilled employees continues to expand and competition for these workers becomes more intense, early education is an issue that can affect both the workforce of today and the workforce of tomorrow. Early education sets children up for success and the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce serves as the voice of the industry in the education process.  We bring together programs, partnerships, and events to address the challenges of developing, attracting, and maintaining talent for our members and local businesses.  We celebrate our children’s scholastic accomplishments and provide our educators with industry tours to bring awareness to the future workforce needs of our economy.

School Counselors/CTE Instructors Tours

School counselors and career tech educators from Lycoming and Sullivan County tour area industries to gain better insight to the types of skill sets required for their students’ future careers. Each industry tour provided them with a general understanding of the types of jobs involved at their operations along with the requirements and traits needed for them. The educators are then given tours to see first-hand the work being performed at these companies.
The day concludes with a lunch presentation by Lycoming College, Penn College and UPMC Susquehanna. Information from the two colleges focus on the training and education provided to students seeking to go on to two and four year institutions in readying them for employment at local businesses and industries. They also hear about the numerous opportunities available at UPMC Susquehanna for those looking to go directly into the workforce out of high school in addition to those positions open to students seeking post-secondary education.
